Backbone
Woodblock print and ink drawing on paper. All three pieces in the series measure 11.7” x 16.5”
Backbone is my first foray in a new direction in my artistic practice. I intend to explore the concept of radical vulnerability by revealing the most intimate parts of my personhood as an artist. I hope this series prompts a discussion of the my innermost world which, for my entire life as a neurodivergent person, has been a hidden world. I conceived each wood block as vertebra, with each print in the series representing a section of the spine. The battle of chaos and order between the marks created by woodblock and by hand represent the constant interplay between my autism and ADHD.
