Turtle Ravenholt is a multi-disciplinary artist from Canada now working and living in Newcastle Upon Tyne.

I use poetry, photography, collage, doodling, printing and sculpture to examine the complex nature of what we as a society value and what we see as waste. Through my art, I aim to highlight the value in things discarded by society, whether they be physical objects or marginalized individuals. All of my work is underpinned with the unique but forced perspective that having autism creates.

I am obsessed with contradiction and juxtaposition and I love to play with the tension that these things can create. I hope to be able to show those who view my art that this tension can be resolved in novel ways by travelling down a new path or allowing a new thought pattern to manifest. My unique brain cannot help but examine things from every angle and direction, constantly searching for all of the possible trajectories and conclusions, often to my detriment. Through my art I want to take this practice that can sometimes be a trial for me and allow others to use and exploit it to find new and fresh ways of thinking and feeling about the world.
